Do you ever wish your jewelry could look brand new? Well, it can! With everyday household items you can get your jewelry looking brilliant and beautiful in less than 5 minutes!

Silver: For all silver jewelry, tarnish is the enemy. When silver begins to tarnish it developes a dark, almost black like film. Without proper care, the tarnish can build up overtime making it harder to remove. For your silver items that are merely dull, have film, or are beginning to discolor, we have a quick fix!

You will need:

  • 1 Medium size bowl
  • Warm Water
  • Mild Dish Soap
  • 2 Small Soft Cloths

In a medium size bowl, mix 3-4 drops of mild dish soap with warm water. Place your jewelry in the bowl and dip in soft cloth. Gently rub your jewelry with the cloth until tarnish is gone. Rinse jewelry with cool water and then follow by buffing the jewelry with a soft dry cloth until dry.

Rings: For rings with gems and stones, you will begin to notice that everyday build up of lotions and dirt can clog the prongs and give your stone a foggy look to it. This can easily be removed and your stones can look like new in only a few minutes!

You will need:

  • 1 Small Bowl
  • Very Mild/Gentle Soap
  • 1 Extra Soft Bristle Toothbrush (Baby Toothbrush)
  • Soft Cloth

Fill a small bowl with warm water and mix in 2-3 drops of very mild/gentle soap. Drop your ring in the bowl and let sit for 1 minute. Dip the toothbrush in the bowl to get it wet and pick up the ring. Very gently (Gentle is key! Especially for diamonds and gold jewelry so you do not scratch the metal) brush the tooth brush against the stone and get the bristles underneath the stone and in-between the prongs to loosen dirt. Keep dipping both the ring and toothbrush in the soapy water and clean until you see the original shine and brilliance from the stone. Rinse with cold water and lay on a dry flat cloth until dry.

Gold: Although it is not as noticeable as tarnish on silver, dirt does build up on gold giving it a more dull or darker golden look. With a few everyday household items you can get your gold jewelry looking brand new!

You will need:

  • 1 Small Bowl
  • Club Soda or Sodium-Free Seltzer Water
  • 1 Extra Soft Bristle Toothbrush (Baby Toothbrush)
  • Small Strainer or Tea Strainer
  • Soft Cloth

Fill a small bowl with club soda or sodium-free seltzer water and add 2-3 drops of mild dish soap. Put your jewelry into the small strainer and place it in the bowl to soak for about 5 minutes. Swish around the strainer then take out your jewelry and begin to gently clean with a extra soft bristled toothbrush. Place jewelry back into strainer and run under cold water. Be sure to rinse the jewelry entirely before laying on a soft cloth to dry.

Costume Jewelry: You can clean your costume jewelry with the same solution for your gold!

  • 1 Small Bowl
  • Club Soda or Sodium-Free Seltzer Water
  • 3 Soft Cloths

Fill a small bowl with club soda or sodium-free seltzer water and add 2-3 drops of mild dish soap. Instead of soaking your costume jewelry (Costume jewelry usually contains glue so it's important you do not soak or immerse your costume jewelry in water or solution!), dab a soft cloth into the solution and gently wipe any dirt or grime. Dab another clean cloth into cold water and gently rinse the jewelry by wiping away the solution. Using a dry cloth, pat the jewelry dry and ay upside down so the mixture won't soak into the setting.
